The Comedy Tent at Ashton Court Community Festival every July has some great acts, many of whom have a very good gig. However, one year, at a certain point it developed into a true gig from hell, as you can see in this extract.

It shows clips of two acts - the first comic attempts to bond with the audience, however his somewhat avant-garde "gagless" style doesn't endear him to a crowd who are clearly looking for some good old fashioned "jokes". He limps along gamely until the introduction of bottles, cans and glasses to the stage by an uncannily accurate team of crack shots brings his act to a rather unfortunate end.

Unfortunate in particular for the next act, who can be seen pacing at the side of the stage wondering why the hell he agreed to contribute to this Community Festival where there lies real risk of physical injury from a crowd now baying for blood.

Surprisingly perhaps, by dint of early audience involvement - bringing four volunteers onto the stage to take part in a farcical comic play - and maybe also the initial sober statement that if the comic gets anything thrown at him he'll set fire to the tent - it comes right and by the end of his act the mood of the audience has been restored.

Sadly, the highlight of the set was cut in the original. Towards the end there is a completely unjustified barrage of heckling from one individual who has lost the plot. The comic retaliates by whipping out a camera and taking a photo of the heckler, now hurriedly shrinking away. The comic then promises to display it on www.wanker.com - to rapturous applause. Watch out also for the comic's attempt to photograph the whole crowd from the stage by asking them all to move closer together.
